About
The Appleseed Writing Project fosters a dynamic, supportive group of K-16 educators from all disciplines to create outstanding teacher-leaders who engage in strong, quality writing instruction via researched-based practices. By developing collaborative partnerships with area schools, AWP empowers teachers to engage students as life-long learners and critical thinkers who achieve academic and personal success in a digital, interconnected world.
The philosophy of the National Writing Project (NWP) is that teachers are the best teachers of other teachers, bringing their expertise and experience and sharing it in a professional development atmosphere. Appleseed Writing Project (AWP) has been operating from Purdue University Fort Wayne since 2003 and has professionally developed hundreds of teachers during that time, through our annual Summer Institute, Open Institute, fall teacher conferences, and workshops and in services. Over 130 teachers have participated in our Summer Institute alone. We invite you to explore this space, discover all of the opportunities that Appleseed Writing Project and the wider National Writing Project have to offer and to become involved in this exciting community.
