About

Since the early '70's Elgin Service Center has been involved in the rural construction business in Northwest Ohio. The early years were primarily devoted to providing farmers with on-farm grain storage and handling equipment. As farms and equipment began to change and increase in size, a need developed for new structures to house the larger machinery. Early on that need was satisfied with pole buildings. But many of Elgin's customers were concerned with the quality and longevity of these buildings. In the 1970's Elgin Service Center contracted an engineering firm to begin work on that project. The challenge was to engineer a building with the strength and durability of the commercial all steel building, but keep the cost in line with the pole building industry.
